The clouds lift from another brisk winter,
Spring breeze blowing the leaves of trees,
Daffodils, daisies growing at dawn,
We're all mowing the lawn,
We fall hazily into the summertime,
Days are relays, we play the baton,
Lazily carried on sun ray patterns,
That dance through branches,
And shimmer off rivers,
Glimmers of hope are stoked so they stay with us,
Bird song peppers the air like confetti,
Straw hats, baseball bats, berets - ooh Betty!
Lying on the grass bees pass me buzzing,
Lay back, relax all day with no fussing,
Grey skies stay by the wayside, good!
I cheer, they appear here more than they should,
Last summer was more under cloud than I reckoned,
So this year, when it's clear, I won't miss a second,
I'll just keep staring at the sun,
And I won't blink until it's gone,
I'll just keep staring at the sun,
Staring at the sun,
I won't blink until it's gone,
Then I'll stare at the moon instead,
When night falls it's alright 'cause it's nice still,
In t-shirt and shorts - no chills,
We cavort in fields and desert the cities,
Beach barbecues, ah the food gets gritty,
Play fine tunes while the moon shines on,
Tight grooves, sweet moves, cheep booze, dutty wine on,
We'll sit and chit chat while the embers are still warm,
Heavy eyed philosophising until dawn, then,
I'll just keep staring at the sun,
And I won't blink until it's gone,
I'll just keep staring at the sun,
Staring at the sun,
I won't blink until it's gone,
Then I'll stare at the stars instead,
I'll just keep staring at the sun,
And I won't blink until it's gone,
I'll just keep staring at the sun,
Staring at the sun,
I won't blink until it's gone,
